Join FOP and Update Membership Information

Friends of Paraguay depends on membership dues to fund small projects in Paraguay. At one time we did annual membership drives with a “snail-mailing” of the Ñanduti newsletter. Then we developed an online version of the newsletter (e-Ñanduti) and migrated to sending it electronically. It has been an overwhelming task to maintain member contact information. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to be able to de a good job following up on membership dues or updating the membership database.

The FOP Board has decided to try a new strategy regarding membership. Friends of Paraguay is a country-of-service affiliate with the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA). The NPCA is governed by a board of directors and is managed by a professional staff with its headquarters in Washington, DC. More importantly, when members join the NPCA, they can designate their country of service affiliate and a portion of their dues ($15) is paid to the designated “Friends of” group. Recently returned Volunteers are eligible for one year of free membership in the NPCA if activated within one year of their COS.

The NPCA does a great job of maintaing the membership database and notifying members of their dues renewal. FOP has access to our member information through the NPCA database.

PLEASE BECOME A MEMBER OF FOP BY JOINING THE NPCA.

Many of you who are already members know that the NPCA and its member groups produce global education programs and advocacy campaigns, provide community, and national and international services.. Membership includes:

  1. 1)Subscription to quarterly WorldView magazine;

  2. 2)Powerful voice for Peace Corps and for the developing world on Capitol Hill;

  3. 3)Global education resources to bring a global perspective to U.S. classrooms and communities;

  4. 4)Social networking through community.peacecorpsconnect.org, as well as fan groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter;

  5. 5)Eligibility for $10,000 scholarship at the School for International Training Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT;

FOP will continue to keep members informed of ongoing special projects and solicit and accept donations (both online and by mail) when needed. Whenever we have called on members for support for our special projectsw the response has been great. We thank you for your continued support.
